EFM
Premium O’s Ethernet in the First Mile (EFM) solution is a highly resilient bonded copper pair Ethernet Service and is the next generation in Ethernet offerings.
EFM has the ability to carry higher bandwidth connections of up to 10Mbps to businesses without the need for costly end-to-end fibre leased lines. This service allows for improved performance, internet monitoring and a better standard of QoS.
Premium O EFM offers new, improved services with extra bandwidth efficiency and considerable cost savings by using bonded copper pairs as opposed to expensive fibre. Premium O’s service bundles up to 5 copper pairs from the exchange to the premises in order to obtain the desired bandwidth throughput. Plus, if any of these pairs fail, the service adjusts the rate to that of a lower speed based on the circuits that are still running – thus avoiding a failure of the line as a whole.
Managed Internet Access (MIA)
Premium O’s Managed Internet Access (MIA) is a highly reliable and flexible fixed Internet access service offered under the Premium O brand. Customers can choose any speed between 1Mbps and 1Gbps and have the guaranteed peace of mind of 24/7 support. A huge advantage of Premium O MIA is that bandwidth to the Internet can be upgraded or ‘flexed’ at very short notice within an access class. This offers peace of mind to companies who cannot predict their needs.
Premium O MIA is ideal for clients who expect their capacity needs to change or to grow quickly. A single router type is used to support each access class so clients can change their internet bandwidth with no physical changes to the network. Therefore clients are able to ‘flex’ their internet bandwidth, either up or down within the bounds of their access class.
MPLS
MPLS (Multi-Protocol Label Switching) is a cost effective, secure and fully managed network solution that allows the connection of geographically dispersed locations.
MPLS is a mechanism for packet forwarding in network routers. Its flexibility means modern networks can successfully achieve Quality of Service (QoS), next generation VPN services and optical signalling.
MPLS works by tagging packets with an identifier (a label) to distinguish the LSPs (Label Switched Packets). This creates fast and effective forwarding engines, as the router selects the label to minimise processing.
